other solo bass players out there?

Hi. Because I do multi-instrumental things, I didn't want to take up my six tracks on myspace with all solo bass stuff, leaving no room for other expressions. But I do have one song up there, and would love to have a receptive audience/listeners for it. It's called "Four Basses." Such an imaginative title. Ha.

James, I'm glad you decided to listen to 'Epic Love', despite the title! The title actually has nothing to do with my thoughts on my own playing (I would never self-proclaim my own epicness :) )! Instead, the piece was written for my girlfriend...

I really do find the titling process difficult. How does Michael Manring come up with such original titles like 'Music for Armchair Funambulists' or 'Dabuda's Memory'?

Cool tunes guys!

Hey Zander- I think Dabuda was the name of a Native American Indian woman who wove baskets. Apparently in their basket making tradition, the women would weave stories and the history of their people into the baskets. I think Dabuda lived when white settlers were pushing into the American West. Michael explains it much better on the E-CD liner notes of Soliloquy (which everyone should own!!!).

I dont have anything ready yet. I am getting ready to purchase a looper, not sure which one? Then I have some ideas to put together. I love the stuff that alot of you have put out there, very inspirational. I love Steves stuff with Lobelia. How cool, only a bass yet still great music. I have some old song from the 70's I want to arrange for bass and vocals.

I'm currently in the process of getting a fretless neck for my 7 string & that might be my primary solo insturment... Who knows..... :p
