Just so I can commiserate with you guys and share my pain...


The setting: My first show in a real theater with pre-sold tickets. We were the headliners, and our first set started at 8:00.
The Plot: At 7:58, a loud noise was heard from the direction of the bass. For further information, see the picture below...

Tailpiece wire came loose.

All of the members of my band ran in opposite directions, fearing my wrath.

Hmm... Thanks for contributing shadow.

Matt, I was really lucky in that a friend of mine had come to the show, and had been at a festival all day. He had a bass in the car, and he graciously offered to let me use that.

As an update, the bass got fixed today, and all is well...

Glad it worked out for you. I played at a gig once where the drummer's stool fell apart while he was playing. Now that was funny ...

I guess a spare $15 synthetic tailpiece cord in your bassbag would be good insurance for all bassists. Like a spare pickup cable. But then again, if you have a synthetic tailpiece cord, better to put it on before the gig!
