Outdoor speakers for loitering deterrent reccomdation.

Work has asked me about possible upgrade to our outdoor speaker system. Looking to replace 4 old JBLs with 2 larger boxes mounted high up on the architecture, but still cover the same are. Here is what we currently have, they are over 20 years old but working surprisingly well. I don't have a preference on 4-8 ohm or 70 volt. I'll replace the amps if I need. The ones in use now are very under powered and running in bridge mode to compensate for how wimpy they are.

I've read that they play high frequencies to deter young people (but older people can't hear them). Something like 18-22 kHz IIRC.

I'm 50yo and can still hear these frequencies. So I researched it and found this out.

There are outdoor speakers in an actual smaller package that have more output if that's what's needed.

The media to being played is still being decided by management.

The speakers themselves we want to replace at some point and mount them higher up because people around the build like to throw things at them. So with the large glass windows that means going up restricts them to 2 rigging points left and right of the windows.

As far as their purpose they do sometime get used to background music and paging for events in the adjacent park, but they are not going to be expected to be used as a pa for a live band.

The amps currently are an older qsc, not at work right now to give model number but I'm pretty sure they are stereo 125 wats at 8 ohm. Both amps in bridge mono 4 ohm loaded, so 2 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel on each amp. So without looking up the exact amp specs that should mean each bridge amp is outputting 500 watts at 4 ohms.

I really want to replace the speakers for sure, they have been outside in Alaska weather for the last 20+ years.

As far as going 70v or 4-8 ohm I don't really have a preference but I really don't want to just slap a 8 ohm to 70v transformer on the output of the amp, If I go 70v I'd rather replace the amp with one with enough headroom to be able to add more speakers in the future if needed.
Are backstage paging system as an older qsc 70v 1200 watt (bridged) amp that is just a tank that won't quit.

Look at the Community R Series outdoor speakers. The R.5HP is a fairly compact horn loaded three way speaker with considerable output and throw.
They do require at least a 75hz high pass filter and maybe a few touches of EQ. I've used them for outdoor installations quite a few times.

Since this is a bass forum, you should be looking at "infrasound" frequencies below 20Hz. Starting with 19Hz, these inaudible frequencies create fear, anxiety, dizziness, nausea and a a sense of dread. Works with all ages too! Go ultra low and "scatter on!"

Just a little update. Management is still contemplating budget for project. So for the time being I've been playing the original broadway cast recording of Sweeney Todd on repeat during summer business hours and it is quite effective so far. I like Sweeney Todd but it's definitely not for your average music listeners tastes.

I've had a smaller version of the C120's in my backyard for years. Rain, snow & heat have never been an issue. They sound very good with an old stereo receiver and can bother the neighbours if I choose to.
I'm not sure about distribution where you are but if available they're worth looking into.
