P and J pickups wired in series

Anyone have a diagram for wiring a P J bass with a single volume, tone and Jack? I'd be happy to wire it with two volume controls and no tone too. Thanks for any help or suggestions.
 
Here is how it's done:

put the black lead of the J pickup to ground

connect the white lead of the J pickup to the black lead of the P pickup (do not ground either of those)
in fact, cover that connection with electrician's tape, or better yet shrink tubing

now connect the white lead of the P pickup to the volume pot's terminal (not the body)

Finito!
