P bass tone knob causing volume drop?

Alright, I've replaced both pots with completely new ones and same thing. I've swapped out the cap with 2 others I had lying around and nothing. I wired it directly to the output jack and it sounds totally fine. Is there a possibility that this is being caused by the jack? I followed the wiring diagram you posted to a T.

edit: I've tried a third capacitor that I pulled out of my main player, so I know it works, and it still it cuts the volume. This isn't a small cut either, this is a big difference going from full on to off.

What are you plugging your bass into when this happens? An amp? Your computer? An effect unit?

Also, if the tone you are using does not have much low end, the tone control will remove most of the signal and make it quieter.

Also if you are playing at lower volumes you will hear it more as you reduce the high end with the tone control.

You can also try a smaller value cap, like a .033µF. That will remove less upper mids.

Have you solved this issue?
Just to say, since I found this thread while searching for solutions to the same problem, that in my case I had it wired incorrectly. I had already replaced pot and cap to no avail. I fixed this by connecting the "hot" wire (from pickup selector) and "output" wire (to master vol) both to lug 2 (center lug/sweeper) and the tone cap to lug 3. Now it sounds great!
