Angling the foam help resolve that issue

Angling the foam makes some strings shorter. The foam already makes a bass sharp. What I do is cut the foam as a wedge so it's taller on the bass side and shorter on the treble side. It's still not ideal because the strings follow a radius but at least the G string isn't muted excessively.

How does it make it shorter? The whole string is still vibrating albeit the some are more muffled than others as its further from the bridge

Try it with a tuner and you will see that foam makes strings intonate sharp. How much depends on how much pressure it's exerted on the strings.
When I installed foam in the ashtray of my P with Jamerson flats, I almost ran out of saddle room because the E string in that set needs to be very long and the foam required moving the saddle back even more.

True if sufficient pressure is applied but that does not make the strings shorter

If the string goes sharp, the vibrating part is shorter. ANyway what matters is that intonation must be adjusted.

It means the string is deflected, not shorter.
