P-Bass w/ Flats.. first experience

Just this afternoon I strung my P up with a set of Fender Flats for the first time in about thirty years. This evening I go to meet with a band that I might get some work with in the future. Their bass player is playing a Fender P with flats. Maybe I'm on to something.

I'm excited to play my number one P again, now that the flats are back on it where they belong.

My main player is my 2011 60th Anniversary P, but before my band's last gig I decided to swap the year and a half old Chromes for a set of DR Black Beauties.

Decided I don't like the way the coating feels on the DR's. I disliked it enough that the bass sat on a stand for the last several practices, leaving me playing my backup P (a new MIM Standard). The MIM is wearing D'Addario rounds, but I like the feel of them at least.

Finally gave up today and put the Chromes back on the 60th. The DR's are nowhere near worn out (still sound great but I just can't get used to the rubbery feel), so they'll go on one of my other P's if I ever get desperate for a quick replacement. For now they will stay put away, and when I wear out the rounds on the MIM, I'll be changing to a new set of Chromes on that that one, too.

The flats on the 60th stay until one breaks. The replacements will NOT be rounds again.
