P/J style pickup help.

Hi all, i am in the process of upgrading my Tanglewood Rebel 4k. It is now a fretless, and i want to buy some new pickups for it. It is a pj style bass. Can someone point me in the right direction of some pj pickups good for fretless basses please.

if you wanna stay passive you can't lose with the Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound P&J. for a passive pickup they have a hot output and sound great for fretless

I have the active EMG P & J in my fretless and I recommend this setup highly.

cheers for your help. I am planning on replacing all the electronics, so staying passive is a must, seeing as there is very limited space inside the bass.

I fitted EMGs into a passive Bass with limited space in the control cavity. This because with EMGs, all the electronics are enclosed in the pickups and the pots they supply are tiny - much smaller (shallower) than standard ones - so if you can fit a 9v battery in somewhere now you are in business!!.

Here's what I did to the MIM Fender Jazz:
neck pup= diamarzio split p
bridge pup= diamarzio area j bridge
gotoh 201 bridge, and a hipshot drop d tuner.

The control plate is not stock at all anymore, it is set up as such:

series/parallel switch= neck+bridge series, neck+bridge parallel
three way pickup select toggle= neck, n+b, bridge
master volume= 500k diamarzio audio taper
master tone= 250k linear pot w/ big orange .047 uF cap
tone defeat toggle switch= cap grounded, cap not grounded.
