I'm rewiring an old Ibanez Roadstar with P and J pickups, and I've clearly opened up a can of worms. My original plan was to replace the awful sounding P pickup, so I got a Dimarzio DP122 set, and put those in, and all as fine. But it had a blend/volume/tone setup, and the blend was nowhere close to even hen it was on the center detent. So I figured I'd switch to a V/V/T configuration, and I bought two new pots for the volumes.
I've followed the dimarzio wiring configurations, and everything appears to be wired correctly, but I'm having two problems:
1. The bridge (jazz) pickup isn't working at all. I've tried two pickups and I don't get anything out of either of them. Obviously, this problem can't be solved without seeing it, so I'm going to troubleshoot a little more and then post a picture tomorrow if I can't figure it out; but in the meantime, I'm wondering if it could possibly be related to problem #2:
2. The volume for the neck pickup mutes when it's on full. If I back off just a hair, I get full volume.
I suppose the answer to both of these issues is that I got bad pots. Is there a way to test pots with a voltmeter or something?
