PA speaker death?

how can i veryfy this? i mean the speaker works but it stops working every 5 or 6 seconds, i have tried with diferent cables and the problem persist, also it only happens in that particular speaker
its a peavey spg2(or something like that)
could it be just a loose wire inside?
also i played bass trough PA and some distortion happend in that speaker but at the end it still worked

i am not really sure, but i think it wass only the big speaker that stopped sounding
what if the 2 stopped sounding? i am not really sure sorry for the lack of info but i need help

If it is just the woofer (big speaker) and you have 2 sp-2 cabs, I'd swap woofers and see if that fixes it. Unless you find a loose wire inside.

Yes, it could be a loose wire, but it is most likely one of the little wires that are part of the speaker basket.

I'm not a fan of Peavey products, but there's been quite a few SP2 speakers. Is this one equipped with a Dolly horn and a 15" or a newer one?

Active or passive?

If passive, is the amp Peavey too?

DDT compressor is HORRIBLE and sometimes does just what You described.

the cabs are passive not sure what kind of, they are not mine but i get some info about them soon, the mixer is a crate sfx8 or something like that

guys i know realised that what stops working is the horn, and if i hit it(not hard) it works for a while, like if something is loose inside what do you guys think the problem is?

and yes i am getting my cousin(really good with elcectronic) to help me with it

If its the horn you should just unscrew the baffle and check the wire. If its not the wire which I am guessing it is then pull the horn from the other side and put it in that side. If it works the driver needs to be taken to a repair shop. compression drivers unscrew from the baffle by hand and replacing the peavey driver would only cost you 50 bucks or so. guessing its a cheap 1"
