PA system for wedding band!

that's kinda harsh. maybe there are people that use jrx, etc that care a lot but are doing the best they can w/what they have to work with.

i have played with groups that went on and on about "p.a. this" and "p.a. that" that didn't really sound that great, and i've played with groups using small budget p.a's that did.

My statement is do your homework before you spend your money. The general consensus is that 215 cabs suck and you would be better buying a 12 0r 15 that can be pole mounted. People buy the JRX125s because they have an orange badge.

I agree. I didn't buy them. The bandleader did long before I joined the band.

Yeah, thats a tough budget. While my PA is certainly not top notch, it will definitely get the job done. I have a pair of Mackie SA1232 active tops, each powered by their own 1300 watt power amp, and a pair of Mackie sa1801 active subs. Our board is a Mackie cfx-16. the guitar player and I purchased these five items used for 3k.

Now, first off, we popped both of the power amps in the subs, so now we run them passively with a Crest CC2800. That initial 3 thousand dollar investment, did not include cabling, mic's, xlr cords, stands, monitors, 1/4 inch speaker and instrument cords, lighting, crossover or front of house rack. We have done street dances in front of several thousand people with this PA, and obviously are underpowered. We added another pair of 18 inch subs for low end, still not enough oooomph though. Running your own PA is not a cheap undertaking, especially when you end up buying too much stuff, then have to find a way to transport it all eventually.
