Pairing svt3pro w/ svt610hlf

Hello to all. Let me start by saying I love this forum and there are tons of useful info on these pages.

That being said, I've been researching how much power to pair with a cab.

Currently, I have an svt3pro (which I love) and an ampeg b410hlf. The amp is rated for 450 watts rms, and the cab is only rated for 400.

I don't like having to back off the volume to stop My cab from 'farting.'

I've read a lot of contradictory statements, but it seems the thing I read the most is you 'should' have a cab that can handle MORE than what your amp can output.

So I was wondering if anyone has ever paired an svt3pro (450 watts) with an ampeg svt610hlf (600watts). Is that too much of a difference? Would the cab not get enough "ummph"?

I need a good punchy sound, would that amp give that cab just that?

Would one recommend pairing that amp with an svt410hlf (450 watts) instead? How come?

If you like how the amp and cab sound, then it should be a fine paring. If your cab farts before you get loud enough, you need more cab, not more amp.

I know this. I bought that cab used Cuz it was cheap. But my man question is would the svt3pro be enough to get a good punchy sound put of a 600 watt 610hlf?

If you can dial in that sound with the amp, and the cab then yes. It has little/nothing to do with either component's power rating.

+1 the wattage ratings are not really all that important. What IS important, is the tone and volume you get, and whether or not it's satisfactory to you.

The 610hlf and the 3 PRO will be a good combination - you should get the punchy tone you are looking for. The B410hlf is most likely only a 8ohm cabinet and the 3 PRO is only putting out 275 watts into the 410. Since the cab is 410 is farting out - lower the bass content below 100hz and stop pushing in the Ultra Low switch. A simple slider adjustment on the EQ at the 600hz mark will give you the majority of what the Ultra Low switch does.

My old 3PRO sounded best at 4 ohms. Definitely try out the 610. Should be a good combo.

I run my SVT3Pro into either an SVT410HLF, or an SVT810E, with excellent results from both. The 410 is deeper and boomier, while the 810 is louder and tighter.

In my band mates garage where I sometimes rehearse, he has a 3pro & 610hlf which I use and it sounds good tone wise & volume wise.

Im not really a fan of the 610hlf, but I used to have one I used with a 3 pro and it sounded really delicious!

I did a guest shot a couple of months ago. The guy was running your exact rig (pro3 with a 6 10) Sounded phenomenal. He was running against a couple of half stacks and I told him to turn his bass down.( what??? telling another bass player to turn down???? sacrilege ) It was actually overpowering the half stacks and they were playing pretty loud. When I got up on stage , I was running my bass at about 50%. I usually run at 70 to 80% with my rig. This set up cranks when you get it dialed in right.
