Double Bass Palatino soundclips

HeavenOnAStick said:
Hey, does anyone have soundclips from your palatino? What have you run it through to help the sound (not the mods to the body, but what eqing and preamps do you use). I want to hear how it sounds before I buy my own.
You're going to have to play one yourself, because that will sound different than me playing a Palatino, or anyone else playing a Palatino. Just like any other bass.

Let me edit this right now, lest you think that I was being glib... it's a little hard to assess how a bass will sound and feel in your hands, without actually getting those particular hands on the bass. If at all possible, try to play the Palatino first. I bought my current bass without playing it first, and it's worked out well to say the least. But it's a scary proposition overall, and I think it should be avoided whenever possible.

I've recently been listing to sound clips of a couple of different basses (NOT double basses), and if I based my opinion on the sounds I heard, I'd run in the other direction. Yet I might be missing out on a perfectly viable instrument as a result.

Playing it before hand might not be an option for me though. I'm almost ready to order my Palatino right now, but I want to make sure I'm not missing something absolutely huge. I guess the worst I could do is return it and pay shipping (depending on whether the company's policy allows for that).
