Double Bass Palatino vs Stagg/Dean Pace Contra EUB

Hi,

Can someone who has owned both give me some feedback on the differences between the two? There is a Palatino VE-500 at our local music store for $695 used - seems a bit pricey to me. I could get the Stagg/Dean Contra new for around the same price but if it's a much better instrument then it may be worth it. Thanks in advance!

I would buy a new pace contra from Gollihur. I have had two staggs, and the quality control is terrible. Gollihur knows what a double bass is supposed to play like and they’ll refuse mediocre examples.

Oh, interesting. I thought the Pace Contra was just a rebranded Stagg - same instrument, different logo.
