I just got a Palatino VE-500 and I have a concern about the string length. I know that the scale of the bass is shorter by about an inch or so, so that 3/4-scale are a little on the long side and that there is a significant amount of the playable part of the strings are wrapped around the peg. However, from what I have read, it looks like 3/4 scale length strings are used.
My concern is that I read that one should avoid to have the playable part of the string wrap around the peg in the peg box because it can delaminate. Has anyone ran into this issue when they installed a set of strings on their bass? I just bought a new set of Zyex strings, and I would hate to have them delaminate on me.
Could someone advise if indeed 3/4-scale strings are the right length to use?
Thanks!
