I have a bit of an obscure challenge for Bartolini fans. I recently acquired an old pedulla bass. Rob from moe. was a huge influence back in the day for me. He played one of these with JJ pickups. I am looking to attempt to match his tone during moe's phase where he used this bass. I know that my model is very close to his, as are the electronics.
his bass was an active JJ pedulla bass with 2 knobs for pickup volumes, a pickup toggle switch and a treble and bass knob. there are also 2 small switches near the bridge which i believe function as active /passive, and phase reverse. I know he used bartolinis in this bass because he mentioned it to me a long time ago. The thing is, my knowledge is limited with what different Barts sound like in the jj configuration.
It I uploaded a couple short clips of his bass playing at that time, do you think you might be able to pinpoint what kind of Bartolini J pickups he's using?
If i get any replies i will reply to my own thread with mp3 links and you can judge and hopefully with your Bart expertise help me narrow down what to consider putting in my bass. He had a very unique tone and ive been chasing after it ever since those days. (circa 1994-1997)
