Passive Bass, want to make active.

as the title says, i have a Spector Performer 4DLX with the passive EMGs and i want to add a preamp to it, how hard is this mod to do, and how long would i be without my bass.

could i get a set of Bartolini Soapbars and add a preamp to those?

Depends on what define 'hard' as. Its not that tough to wire up a preamp, you can do that with either the EMGs or the Barts. The biggest issue you'll have is fitting the preamp inside the cavity.

If you can fit two 9V batteries in there with a little space spare, you can probly install an Audere or an Aguilar. If not, you'll need to do some routing, hence the need for a definition of 'hard'. I consider routing to be 'hard' but other people may not.

yeah, i'm nto much for taking a router to my only bass. i'd be good with a 9v preamp.

I think he was meaning that if you can fit 2 9V batteries in there, you will be able to fit 1 battery and 1 preamp...
