passive recording?

If you plug your bass into the headphone jack, there'll be no sound as it is an output jack.
If ,on the other hand the bass gets plugged into the INPUT jack on the interface, you should be ok.
 
You'd be better off plugging a mic into your computer and recording your amplified sound.

Either way, you'd only get one single mono track and no way to overdub anything. What are you trying to achieve exactly?
