passive recording?

probably a dumb question, but theres worse, like that battery one.


anyways, if i just plug my passive bass into a computer using only a lead and a 1/4" to headphone jack converter, which will go into my mic in plug will i get any sound? i just wana doodle around with recording basic tracks

If you plug your bass into the headphone jack, there'll be no sound as it is an output jack.
If ,on the other hand the bass gets plugged into the INPUT jack on the interface, you should be ok.

you can do it but it wont sound "good" it will just sound like a crappy recording. Albiet, youll be able to make out what your doing on your bass

it also depends on your bass. My thunderbird sounds ok but the EB0 distorts.

Either way, you'd only get one single mono track and no way to overdub anything. What are you trying to achieve exactly?

Dont you have a line out on your amp? Most of them have those these days. bass into amp, lineout amp into computer's jack input.
