Pay to Play rears it's ugly head

Woodchuck, is there any chance you're talking about the Strand? Or whatever it was called at that time. That big theater on M'tta square, where apparently people think the only way to make money is to rape amateur musicians?

They were still in that game as late as '97 - '98, believe it or not. I actually got roped into doing a "show" there. :rolleyes:
Our dumb singer paid -- if he had asked any of the rest of us to chip in, we would have laughed at him..... and maybe kicked him too.

Where does all that money go? I can't imagine it costs nearly that much (bearing in mind that there will be a few "not well known" bands on the tour) to rent the venues and to do promo.

In a huge event such as this, who would get the lion's share of the cash? I had always assumed it was the label, but after reading this post it seems that it isn't...?
