Pbass with bridge humbucker

Hey Hank, the Delano pu's are great pu's, but to me they lack a bit of character. I very much like Nordstrands and the older Ibanez pu's (80-ies models). Certain Fenders are also great.
If I have a choice, I'd get one of these three.

Thanks. Did you find they have a good 'grind' to them? I'm mostly looking for something that'll cut through well with distortion, and thought the larger pole pieces would do that.

I think I'm going to go with the fender HB. I'm gonna need to route though. I would've had to either way with what I want to do.

It's an all maple (Tele guitar-body) fretless w/a Tonestyler T pot and a 3 way pu switch. I use the blend and HB switch settings the most. The (Bill Lawrence) P is good but weaker/less dynamic by itself. Together they sound ideal - a good pu combo for fretless.

Here's my Ibanez ATK100 from 1997. There's a Mustang/Bullet pu installed and a 5-way switch for the pu's

It's technically a p-bass with a bridge hum bucker. Anyway it sounds as such. KILLER BASS!

I've got mine wired with a blend and 2 position switch selecting parallel or aft humbucking single coil for the ATK pickup, with a OBP-3, push pull mids, stacked bass/treble control.

I gigged it for about a year like this, generally running the EQ flatish, just pulling some low mids out, and the pickups 'full on' - blend centered, ATK pickup in parallel. This worked great for top 40, classic and alt rock. From time to time I'd add some bass, and as strings decayed I'd add treble.

Great rock bass all around, and I'm finding I love the P-MM(ish) pickups combo format. I'd like to try a newer, lighter J-MM(ish) ATK, but I haven't bonded with the ones I've fondled at guitar center...the P and the ATK pickup just interact really well, I find. The P is a battering ram of a pickup...P+ATK is a dozer blade - still knocks things down, but has a sharp edge.

Nice bass indeed, if it wasn't the headstock, my bigotry for Fender and my addiction for modifying gear I'd gonna go that way (in white).

That they might be good for, BUT try for yourself is the best!

Bridge pickup is the Deluxe Precision you get it for 40$ on the bay, very good balance with the Split-P, much better than the weak single jazz it got before.

Resurrecting this old post. This is the exact setup that I want on my P-Bass and your posts have been very helpful. Could I perhaps have some measurements for my tech? I'm handing it off to him since I have no experience with routers. Thanks in advance and cool bass!
