Double Bass Peacock's and Patitucci's mystery floating microphone

I've seen many videos of Gary Peacock (with K. Jarrett) and of John Patitucci (with C. Corea) where they place a regular microphone floating in between the legs of the bridge (using a foam or something).
Does anybody know how is it really placed? What kind of microphone is it? Has anybody tried that? Thanks in advance.

I post a pic of "The Keith Jarrett Trio Live at Open Theatre East" (1993), where the mic can be seen. BTW, a great concert I recommend.

I have a feeling that they could be th Accusound contact mike but Im not sure. I really cant tell from the picture.[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
I don't think so; it seems to be just a normal type (i.e., a handheld dynamic or condenser) microphone. (Whereas Accusound mics are designed specifically for instruments.)
