Peavey 215 Project

Long time reader. First time poster.

I'm a big fan of the loud, doomy bass sound as found in the music of bands like sunnO))), om, and sleep. I currently have 2 Peavey 215s that I am going to refurbish (new tolex, grill cloth, hardware, etc). I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for new speakers to load in these cabs to handle the 300 watts coming from my sunnO))) 300T. Preferably 8 ohm speakers, so that i can wire each cab at 4 ohms to utilize my 300T at 2 ohms. I want this rig to be as loud and as low as possible.

Thanks!

What type of 215 is it you have?

There were two sizes of enclosure, the regular 215 and the 215 - D. Also, you could get it with Scorpion (I think?) or Black Widdow (better) speakers.

Mine is the D (deep) cab loaded with Black Widdows and I couldnt dream of a better sound out of it.

Also, I think most 15s tend to be 8 ohm, so that shouldnt be too much of a problem

iirr i modeled my 215bw with kapplite 3015's (non lf's) and it looked pretty good. i scrapped the idea as i just didn't want to sink the money into a cab i didn't want to carry around.

i actually carried it around for a little bit, so i refurbed it just a little. kept the stock speakers, but i stripped it and sprayed it with some textured coating. (similar to duratex but my own formula) the coating was green and i powder coated the hardware yellow. i called it the tractor.

sorry i don't have pics
