Peavey 410 TVX making noises

I bought a used Peavey 410 VTX and it makes a `farting`noise for about two or three minutes and then comes out of it. I thought one of the speakers was blown but then it stopped so I`m thinking it`s in the cross-over, electronics part and it has to warm up.... My question is, can I by-pass everything and hook the four 10`s directly to a quarter inch jack. I have the tweeter knob down all the way, so loosing it is not an issue.

Definitely bypass the crossover - the TVX is an unusual cab in that the 10's are low passed so with the tweeter off (or fried) it sound like it has a stack of wet blankets over it. I was given one because it sounded so bad - and a simple crossover bypass got it sounding great :) .
Thanks. I was hoping I could. It sounds great other than that. I`m running my Ampeg Portabass 250W combo through it right now, and might get the separate head or look for something else. Local store has a Portaflex 350 and a used GK 400RB.
