Peavey Firebass 700 crossover question

So I purchased a Firebass 700 a few months ago and I like it. I currently run it into a 4x10 SWR Workingman. I'm interested in buying a 1x15 or 2x12 and I'd like to make use of the built in crossover, but I'm a little confused.

From what I read in the manual, I would need to run each crossover output into an external power amp, and then into my cabinets. The manual also suggests running the low or high outputs into the power-amp-in jack on the head. If I do that I can obviously only run one of the low/high outputs into that, but what would I then plug into my cabinet? Is there a better system than this?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I did some searching and didn't find what I was looking for, and I'm finding this a bit hard to understand.

On any bi-amp system you need 2 amps ... I did this for a while when it was the thing to do ( used to own a Firebass 700 ) and I got away from it because of the issues of tuning the rig to each room ( acoustically ) and the weight of another power amp and cabinets ... how I did it, was run the highs using the power amp in the Firebass with a 4x10 cabinet
( you use a small shielded cable ), and for the lows I used a Peavey CS-800 feeding a set of 4- 15's ....sounded good, if you like a very loud Hi-Fi sounding set-up ...but in the end when I wanted loud I just used 2 8x10's easy to set-up and and most people didn't give a **** how it sounded ... they just wanted loud.

So would I run the highs into the power amp in jack, and then out of the back of the head into my cabinet?

Yes, and run the lows to another amp & cabinet
