Peavey Grind-5 Question.

This is my first time on here but I have an old Peavey Grind 35" scale neck through body. I've seen online several with the letters BXP and none of them look like mine. Mine has a routed out area at the base of the neck for what appears to be to place your fingers for popping.

I'm considering selling this but I don't know anything about this bass and I'm just looking to find something out about it.

It plays and sound great. I have a Lakland, Musicman, Fenders etc. and it holds its own with those..

The part of the body you are referring to is yes, for plucking. The older models had that, newer ones don't. I think it's interesting looking.

I had an older Grind, like yours with the cutaway, and it was made from Imbuya, an endangered species. The newer ones are (I think) mahogany or something. The skeleton of those things are great. The electronics, not so great.

Of all the basses that have come and gone, the Grind is the only one I regret selling.

This one don't have lots of variables in tone but I use the back pickup to get that farty sound and with a nice set of Elixers it sounds pretty good.

They are a one-tone pony, but it's a useful tone.
