I 've pretty much decided to purchase a Peavey Headliner 112 cab. I understand this product is discontinued in the US but apparently there are still a few pieces still in stock in shops around Europe where I live.
I always take a careful look at specs whenever I purchase something, especially music gear. In this case it has been a bit of a challenge to figure out the specs of what I'm buying, as I see conflicting information about the product coming from various shops, forums, etc. So this gives me a bit of uncertainty which is not very welcome.
I will try to keep this post as non-confusing as possible.
A major European web shop still carries the cabinet and the product specs on their website looked like this:
I will refer to these as "new" specs, for reasons that shall soon be clear.
I asked the shop to verify that the specs listed on their website are correct. They promptly replied with a .pdf brochure they said they got from their distributor. They even went ahead to "update" their website with the figures listed in the brochure (which I have attached at the end of this post for reference):
I will refer to these as the "old" specs for the cabinet. The reason is, I do not believe they match what the shop actually has in stock at the moment.
The reasons I make this assertion are:
a) The brochure they got from their distributor was printed back in 2015 which I understand was the year the Headliner cabinets were released
b) The specs in the brochure do not match with the last specs Peavey had on their website for this model (Invalid Link Removed) which were as follows:
Not only this, but the last specs on Peavey's website before the 112 was discontinued perfectly match (dimensions, weight) with the specs the e-shop was displaying before I asked them to verify the specs! I believe they had the correct ones in the first place.
I hope it is clear why I refer to the brochure specs as "old" and the Peavey website specs (also the e-shop specs before they "corrected" it) as "new". Of course I might be horribly wrong here.
Now, it's clear the best way to figure out which cab the shop carries would be to just ask them to unpack one and measure their dimensions. But I feel kind of uncomfortable asking them for this, as it will instantly lower the item's perceived value.
So, with this thread, I am hoping to find more info about the Headliner cab revisions, apparently there are at least two of them.
The spec of most importance to me would be loudspeaker manufacturer. I have seen sources that state Eminence as the manufacturer and others Peavey as the manufacturer. In the second case they even mention a "Sheffield" model which I actually found on the Peavey website as a spare part. This is part of the reason it does not make much sense to ask the shop for cabinet dimensions. Even if they gave me specific numbers that alone wouldn't give me hints on what loudspeaker is installed.
So, because I have to start from somewhere, I kindly ask that if you have a Peavey Headliner 112, please take a WxHxD measurement and let us know with a post. If you got the cab new please also mention the year you bought it. And of course, if you 're a real Peavey-head and happen to know hard specifics about the product's development, also let us know. Even general comments about how cab manufacturers go about doing business are welcome because, up to now, looking for specs for this cab has been a puzzle. I am actually new to the world of cabs, are all cabinet products like this?
Again, have a great year, or at the very least, not worse than the previous one. That can't be that hard, can it?
