I play a Warwick Proline 4 string through a Peavey KB300 keyboard amp. It has a 15" woofer, a horn and 300 watts. It sounds great! I am thinking of building a 4X10 speaker cab to hook up to this amp also but was wondering what kind of speakers should I use for the 4X10 cab and what ohm speakers should I buy? I was thinking of building it to the same dimensions as an Eden 410 cab. Could my KB300 handle this without heating up or ruining the sound out of the woofer? Anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks!

Peavey KB300 for bass + a 410?

I know a lot of guys have used the KB Peavey's with bass to good results. First check to see what impedance the extension cabinet should be. I don't know myself but you can get the info from the user's manual.
Why build a 4x10 and have to go through all the hassles of calculating internal volume, what to tune it to and which speakers would work best, plus actually build it? You can buy a new Avatar 4x10 with Neo speakers in either 4 or 8 ohms for cheaper than what you can build using comparable speakers and hardware. The Avatar cabinets are good quality for the price and will easily handle more than the full output of your Peavey and if you're using it as an extension it'll probably only have to handle half at best. They're about the same size as the Eden 4x10s.
Unless you have a burning desire to build a cabinet and have the tools and the skill needed.
Thanks for the reply. I'm not familiar with Avatar cabinets but will do some research to see what I can find out. I do have the tools to build the cabinet but if I can get one already made for about the same cost why build one.
I have the Peavey Combo 300, and I believe the power amp section is the same, with that said, the amp put out 210 watts RMS into a 4 ohm load and 300 watts RMS into a 2 ohm load, and yes this amp is 2 Ohm stable, If you use a 8 ohm cabinet the ohmage will be 2.67, or something close to it, 4 ohm cabinet would be ideal, I use a 4x10 with this amp, on occasion and it is a pretty good sounding rig ..... have to agree with the above poster, it's cheaper to buy a used cabinet, than to source your parts & build the cabinet .....but if that's the route you want to ...... just do it, and show us your handy work
You're right Jastacey. I also owned a Combo 300. It would go down to 2 ohms and it is the same basic amp as the KB. It got pretty loud for a 300 watt amp. While it didn't sound too exciting when played alone, with a band it sat in the mix pretty good. It just killed me trying to carry it though.
The new Avatars are cheap enough that it might be worth getting one new. But there are a lot around used in good condition. The neo models are lighter and sound even better than the earlier ceramic magnet speakered ones. I would tend to even go with a 2x10 rather than a 4x10. They are pretty efficient and should mate well with the KB 300s 15"
