I recently purchased a used MAX 250 combo.. as if I needed yet another amp, with advancing age and less frequent gigs. It was in great condition, and the price was almost too good to be true. It was on Facebook Marketplace for weeks. I called, it was still available, and I picked it up. I also bought a nice MDB cover for it. So, of course, no gigs- then, picked up two weekends with a country band I sub with. I used it this past weekend... and I was pretty amazed at just how good this amp sounds. The guys in the band all said it was the best bass sound they had heard there. And that's over some pretty high end stuff- their regular bassist uses a Darkglass head and an Aguilar SL 115. The amp I usually use there is a Carvin BX500 and a Rumble 2x10 cab. I love it. I have also used my Fender Rumble 200. This Peavey smokes 'em all. No it's not quite as loud as my head/ cab- but it seems to be just right in a small, sensible volume group. Not a single fart, buzz, or weird sound from it. The angled baffle is a great idea. Not a new one, but nice in a modern bass combo. These were first released in about 2018-19. I remember trying one of these at my local Guitar Center, and the grille rattled so badly, I couldn't really get a true idea of what it sounded like. Seems Peavey fixed that issue with this model. The EQ and features are great, and I was surprised at how much I liked the mute/tuner feature. It came in very handy on the gig. Only one negative- it's about ten pounds heavier than my Rumble 200... but it's to me, a better amp.
