hello fellow talkbassers, ive been on a search for a new amp recently and ive narrowed my choices down to these two. my favourite tones are newsteads sound on ...ajfa and anything from rex brown. which will help me get closer to these sounds? i know they both use ampegs but i havent heard alot of positive reviews on the pf. any other suggestions are also welcome

thanks

Are sure you can hear Jason Newstead on And Justice For All? He was famously buried/cut from the mix throughout the entire album. You basically only hear the guitars there. Either head will do just fine, but what cabinet are you using? That will make the MOST difference here. If it is not loud enough, you are going to be quite annoyed.

I listen to the bass bass boosted version on YouTube. Absolutely brutal

I was thinking a headliner 210 if I get the peavey or an pf210 if I get the ampeg

"And Justice for Jason" - I listened to it recently too and yes, it's awesome! You are on the right path with a 210. Are you playing in a band right now? Do you need this setup for rehearsal and/or live shows? If you have two crazy guitar players and Bam Bam on drums, one 210 will likely not cut it. Two 210's stacked vertically might do it. I suggest going used for the cabinet. Do you have the funds to get the Ampeg PF800 or the Mesa D800? More watts will only benefit you here.

I plan to get another 210 further down the line
