Peavey T-40. Like em?

I believe Hipshot makes Ultralites that fit a T40. I agree, they are awesome tuners. In my experience, building a bass with a pine body and T40 neck & tuners, lighter tuners are necessary to cut down neck dive.

You're prolly right...I'm gonna do a body and see how it feels first :)
 
come on. There has to be some tonal quality that all that heft provides. I would think lightening it you would lose the sustain and the insanely defined tone.
With new strings a T40 is a face melting experience.
If anything I'd like to put a Moses composite neck on one to see if it gets even more complex and defined sounding.
 
I like mine a lot: here is my beast with bad-sonics pickups. My old back loves her a little less :)
