One difference is that some of the pickups have exposed blades, some don't. I forget which are the earlier ones though.

Both pickups in the T-40 are the "exact" same - right?

Does the Peavey T-40 "SHARE" any parts with the other Peavey basses of the time period - tuning pegs, string tree, "pots", knobs...etc? Or are they ALL unique T-40 parts?

Other early basses share the parts you mentioned to a greater or lesser extent.....T-20, 1st and 2nd model Fury, T-45, Patriot, Foundation. Truly unique parts are the bridge, pickguard, PUs and topnut. The neck is unique for a Peavey in being 20 fret and in the heel shape. Some guitars also shared the knob, switches and the Peavey only 250KS tone pot. T-60 wiring harness is the same with an exception which makes no difference in function.

I think those hardware parts (not sure about the pots though) are all found on other instruments.
-The Embossed/enameled pots carried through to the Foundation and early Fury basses and some guitars
-The Embossed/enameled back plate carried through only to the T-45 and T-60 guitar I think, though I could be wrong.
-The Titan-style tuners were on some Peavey basses for years, at least into the late 80's. I had a Foundation F Active(1988 or so) that still had black set of these.
-The triangular string tree was on the Patriot, T-45 and T-20 but I think it disappeared afterwards.

What years was the T-40 made? I bought a T-40 neck on Ebay with the serial number 01980218 (1984). I guess this was the last year?

They got discontinued in 88. For the final year they upped the Ford similarity and the T series was only available in black.
