I have a Peavey TKO 65 that I picked up for 50 bucks. The only problem was a loose dustcap on the speaker that I easily fixed. I love the tone and stuff, but the problem I have now is it either stops putting out sound or crackles after about 3/4 up on the 2 gains (Its a non-master volume). Anyone have an idea what the problem might be? I run it alone as a combo with EQ flat and a boost going at very conservative levels, and a Big Muff running with all knobs at noon. The outlet I use runs another amp that works dandy.
 
I had a late '80s TKO 115 a while back. I had the same issue you are experiencing. Because of it's age, the electronics may be different, however, after some troubleshooting on my own, I suspected one of the creamic rectangular resistors could be bad.

Just to be sure I took the amp in and had it checked. Sure enough, it was that resistor I suspected. I do not recall the resistor's value, but I do remember it was about 1 inch long, and 5/16" X 5/16" square, and greyish tan in color with a white underside. If I remeber correctly, I thought it was on the output stage of the amplifier.

Depending on the value needed, can probably get one at a Fry's, radio shack, or other electronics supply type place where electronics guys get their stuff. I've found those things locally when I had to.

A little meter is enough to go through and see if any are way out of spec, although that won't tell you how they act when they get hot.

If I remember correctly, the actual numeric value was printed right on the resistor. It was not like the "typical" round barrel type with the painted bands that represent it's value.

The meter is a great suggestion. Do not just go changing parts before troubleshooting. When I was testing the resistance values on my amp, the multimeter indicated no value at that suspected resistor. However, I was still in doubt, as there could have been something that caused that resistor to fry. I took it to a professional for verification. He replaced it basically at no charge, but $45 for troubleshooting.

BTW: The probable cause was assumed to be overloading the input stage of the amplifier. I learned never to connect an amplified signal directly to the input of an amplifier to make it even louder.
