Pedal Chain Order with Diagram

Just came up with this order wanted to know what you guys think.

I like the idea of the game, but I really don't think I'm guessing right. Colors are too ubiquitous. Just tell us what you have!

I would put the Xerograph just before the Timeline and BigSky, because filtered distortion is much more fun. I would also put the ParaEq to the end of the chain, but that's just my preference.

i would recommend to put the filter right after octave/synth/fuzz for at least two reasons. first is enhanced tracking of the octaver/synth and second you need a beefy signal as filter input to achieve good results.

I would move Octave and Synth to before envelope. And Distortion and Fuzz to before envelope.

So - I would do:

Bass -> Tuner -> Comp -> Octave -> Synth -> Fuzz -> Distortion -> Envelope -> all your mod pedals -> delay -> reverb -> EQ -> amp

I would have to agree with the above postings...in my situation...I am basically down to using my Aguilar Octamizer and the Aguilar Filter Twin as that covers most of what I need on gigs...I tried it filter first then octave...then switched it back to Octamizer first then filter and after a couple of more "experiments" I settled on......... Bass ->Octave (Octamizer)->Filter Twin (envelope filter) -> amp

That is just what works for me...thanks for posting your signal chain diagram though!!

Thanks for the replies guys. I put the pedal models in the picture now! Ok so the envelope after the dist/fuzz, good advice. And the phaser early like after the tuner or after the compressor, hmmm

I don't agree with phasers at the start. I put all modulation towards the end but before delay and reverb.

I’m new to pedals and bass. So are you putting all the pedals in front of the amp? I thought time based effects go to the send/return? Asking b/c I am running a tuner, comp and Bass driver DI into the input of my amp and I have an EHX bass clone chorus pedal in the send/return. Before I had the chorus in front of the amp and it sounded like the chorus occasionally dipped in and out. BTW, I’m using a Ampeg Micro CL with the matching 2x10 cab.

Most people run their effects into the amp front end. You can put it in the effects loop, but that adds a lot of difficulty during setup and teardown and pedals generally aren't ideally designed for effects loop operation, but if it sounds good it is good.

I have mine set up so that everything up to and including fuzz/distortion/overdrive goes into the into the amp, modulation and time-based are all in the FX loop.

I use a four cable setup (bass to tuner, distortion to amp, FX send, FX return) with everything on one board.

Right now, mine goes:
Filter, Octave, OD, Fuzz, Bit Crusher, Compressor, Phaser, Chorus/Vibrato, Delay, Noise Gate.
