Who else here things P&E.com just isn't that great anymore now that Nick Reinhert is on all the time now? Really, no offense to him, but man does it take him forever to get to the point. I can't remember what video it was that they demo'd something but it took him 7 of the 9 min to get to the friggen "demo" part! And they seem to focus more on guitar now. I felt that Juan ran one of the best channels for pedal loving bassists to check out new stuff on. Now it's the nick reinhert show. So it seems.

I still appreciate the channel and Juan. I'm not trying to talk smack about him or Nick. But to me, it just feels like it's lost something and it kinda sucks. I used to get really excited when I saw a new video they posted. Now, eh. I almost get negative about it before I even open it. I guess I just don't like change with some things. That site/channel is one of them.

How do you guys feel about tbe channel in the last 6 months to year??

i still love the channel,

nicks playing isnt for me, bit random, however he does bring a bit of humour aswell and i like how they play of each other.

also the interviews have been very cool recently! yeh i wish there was a bit more playing but i think the channel has been nick heavy due to juan having that wrist op.

that channel is still responsible for alot of my gas and pedals i own

You raise some very good points. I didn't even consider Juans wrist. DER! Makes sense. I guess Nick simply rubs me wrong way when he is talking about the pedal. I guess that is just me then.

I still enjoy it, I still like hearing what they do with the stuff they talk about. It's still fun to watch. For the most part. But Juan having that surgery most likely did flip the script quite a bit.

Knob twisting has been there from the beginning, as well as no technical explanation, but more of an "this is how I use it, this is how it sounds when you fool around with it" which is somewhat cool. Nick reminds me of a guitar player I had in Buenos Aires, very electric kid hahahaha. The site is great, the only thing I wish is that it had some sort of uploading pattern and not random the way it is, but then again, it´s been like that since day 1.

Im a big pedalsandeffects fan and while i did enjoy juan by himself in the early days i think they have grown to be a great duo! I actually enjoy the pre demo banter that takes place its always hilarious. There are plenty of instructional demos on youtube for most pedals but its the way juan and nick approach a pedal, that is what makes it so interesting.

Thanks for all the responses so far guys. Maybe it us just me. I do still enjoy the channel and the effects and Juan. I guess Nick just rubs me the wrong way is all and I wanted to know if I was the only one. Seems like I may be part of the small majority if there is one. He does seem to delve into the inner workings of the pedals in ways Juan usually doesn't so that's kinda cool. I hope that Juan starts playing bass more often again with the effects though. It's not like he did a ton before but he would at least do something. Its far and few in between nowadays. But that is probably because of his wrist.

Honestly? I respect Juan and Nick as players. Unfortunately though I cannot gauge any purchases I make based on any of their demos. Juan always plays with a fretless and Nick is a guitar player. Me being an active fretted bass player, I just don't dig them. They are both good, but again, can't decide based on them. I think if they would switch up their playing style once and awhile it would help. That IMO is the main drag of most demos. They all begin to sound the same. The one person I can think of that does the best job at switching style and I can still decide if I like something even though he's a guitar player is Just Nick. Other than that, I'm lost on demos anymore. Excane's help because we have a similar set up and he digs dirt more than me, which is hard to say! LOL!.

Again like Juan and Nick, just can't listen to them and decide on a pedal.

You're not the only one. Nick certainly rubs people off the wrong way; that's his shtick, its how he plays music (not saying he is anything other than very talented), how he engages conversation, even his body language is either a part of his act or just who he is. It can be distracting to me, like feeling chaffed. His contributions are a different perspective, and I don't think that I want him out of the picture because of his perspective on effects. I just skip the parts where he's acting like a goof because it's not why I'm watching, and there are people WAY better at being goofs.

Hischke however, that is the reason I keep coming back. Love his approach to what he does, how his interviews go etc. You can see his passion for this stuff - just like Juan.

I wouldn't change what they have going, it's really brought effects to a new level - a popular avenue for meeting the people building, designing and using the effects we love, in a non Kirk Hammett way.

Totally agree - they shed some light onto how it works and what's in there, but I agree that I have never bought a pedal because of their demo.

I haven't been over there in a while. I didn't know that Juan wasn't hosting it as much, not that I was the biggest fan of his. The demos and shoot outs were moderately helpful to me when I was researching dirt pedals. They tend to be into "noise" pedals and have hipster guys I've never heard of on.
