People who call a bass "she"

Captain Kirk had a great line about risk but the last word always made it sound like he's talking about a giant obese woman rather than the Starship Enterprise.

"The potential for knowledge and advancement is equally great! Risk. Risk is our business. That's what this starship is all about. That's why we're aboard her."

Cracks me up every time.

Any more questions?

It always irked me too, but now since there's so many genders to choose from I'm considering reconsidering this whole things. Looks like I can actually assign a different one to each of my basses too:

P Bass would be Agender, for sure. I'd have some work to do after that though. And I'd have to learn what the pronoun for each was. Hmm...

It's weird. I've always found it weird. It's weird for basses, cars, ships and other inanimate objects.

I just had to get that off my chest.

Thank you

Agreed.
I get the language influence, having done French, Spanish and Latin in school, but it is odd.
I can't say it bothers me too much, although seeing how some folk seem to take a LOT of time polishing and buffing and caressing and whispering endearments to their cars, basses, knives and fishing rods is disturbing.

Wow. I had no idea there was so many options.
I'm cynically thinking this is a plot by the Signwriters Guilds to drum up more business for restroom signage...
