I am currently running a very heavy Ampeg Classic Head. This is a pretty common head. I was wondering what some people have as their EQ. Im very picky and i cant seem to find the perfect tone. I am also running it through a BBE Sonic Maximizer. Im trying to find the same tone as the bass player of Billy Talent. Help me?

The key to dialing in anything on the CL is the mid control. experiment with boosting different shelf frequencies so you learn what they sound like. I don't know Billy Talent, but your bass and technique are going to be different anyway, so use your ears and experiment until you get what you're after.
There is no such thing as a perfect tone. There are tonal characteristics that work for you, so you need to determine what they are.

I would also look at what cabinet you are using, and your bass. Also, +1 to the mid control. Ampegs are ALL about the mid tweaking.

Try starting with bass at about 3/4, Mid knob at the first switch at just over 3/4, and treble at about half.

ditch the bbe. ive found those things do more harm to your sound then good. i got rid of mine. i though it was awesome when i was playing it through my old hartke head until i bought my cl and realized what a decent eq section can do. the cl is all you need for your tone.
