because they stop sounding good to me. I’m not a fan of that dark dead sound I feel like I can’t hear myself in a band context. No mids/overtones. Could be my hard pulling or sweaty hands too. I prefer to play spiros from 2-12 months old.
If there are any S42 Mittels sets lingering around in your drawer, I’d be interested taking good care of them; given that you are shipping to the EU ...
Good to know that all those precious items continue to be in the pipe.nope sadly they’ve been sold. I pass them on to my students and when I got my extension my old Spiros went to the cats in the local orchestra

And pardon the pickpocket attempt.
@rickwolff or anyone else. Have you replaced Perpetuals with a new set yet? If so, how dramatic was the change?
I've been happy with Perpetuals for 1 1/2 years, but recently, started putting things on from my string box and was surprised how low the output of the Perps was. I would love to know that they had died so slowly that I didn't really notice and a new set would be eye opening, but would be interested in hearing from someone who has replaced an old set with a new set.

when I changed i thought of something you said about jazzers. You wish you had changed sooner. I think i chose the right time to change them as they were feeling a little dark and lost some bright growl i like
So, you're saying a new set brought new life? Volume? Richness?
