PF-500 did I just make a mistake?

After reading some, not enough, reviews here I thought a low priced, used PF-500 might be a good deal. Then I found more reviews about these things dying, now I'm worried I made a mistake. Was it just the Rev C boards that were faulty, or are newer ones dying as well? I purchased it online from a reputable dealer, who guarantees it to work upon arrival. Man, now I'm bummed.

I'm an early adopter of the PF500 head, back in 2011. I had to exchange the first head within maybe a month or so, for issues that had nothing to do with the infamous shutting down/failure problems others experienced. The replacement head has been working just fine to this day running at 8 ohms with the PF210HE cab I paired it with, and running at 4 ohms when I've used an extension cab. So yes, there are early production ones out there, working just fine to this day.

Since Yamaha bought LOUD, have there been any comments concerning the quality of the PF series? I like the sound, but have a PF800 die on me with a half hour of getting it made me leary.

Yamaha hasn't put out new product yet. Their first product comes in November with the 50th Anniversary SVT. I don't know if they'll be be releasing anything else beyond that, but I expect Winter NAMM to be pretty big for them.

My PF500 was bought used about 5 years ago - it's not from the problematic years; love it.

A tip: I bought a US$25.00 hardshell handgun carrying case for it; fits perfect, along with the power and speaker cords.

I use a Gator soft bag for mine. Tried to use a laptop bag but it didn't fit. As long as you're not putting it in a trailer, it should be OK for the most part. But $25 for a hardshell handgun case? If I didn't already have my Gator bag, I'd totally be there!

I've had mine for 4 yrs now. I push an old Sunn 2x15 Sorado cab loaded with EVL's. It sounds wonderful and never a hiccup.
