Refurbs going for way less than list. WAY more than you would think. I urge you to check em out, along with a ton of other Ampeg goodies.

I didn’t pay a lot more than that for an “open box” one at Zzounds...maybe $50 more...with full warranty. It appeared as new with no wear or scratches.

Wow those are some NICE prices! What does "refurbished" actually mean?

Usually means either failed QC, failed on a customer and was returned, or damaged in transit to a distributor or retailer; then returned to spec by manufacturer. Sometimes they are B-stock, re-listed as refurbs, which IME are not always good deals.
