Hello!
I've been doing some cab research for a second cab to go along with my Avatar SB112.
For the past 3 years my full rig has been a Markbass lil mark III with a Avatar SB112 and Carvin MB2x10. This set up has been great live power and sound wise, but I've been thinking an upgrade sound quality wise from the carvin cab would be really nice. At this point the main use for the 2x10 is the smaller gigs since its lighter than the avatar.
the carvin cab is a very solid cab, when when put up against the avatar the lack of tone clarity becomes clear, the carvin cab is a great work horse cab, just not on the same level as the avatar.
My main question is what are your experiences pairing the cab 27 or C2 with non phil jones cabs, particularly any 1x12 cabs. After all the reviews and what not I have no doubts the cabs are great in pairs or standalone, but I haven't been able to find much in terms of combinations outside of the PJ family.
C2's size and weight is super appealing but something about the cab 27 seems like a better "standin" for the 210.
Context wise I live in LA and mostly work as a freelance musician doing pretty much any style short of crazy slap intensive stuff. My main bass is an gnl L2000, but I have 86 gnl SB1 with flats and a fender 5er jazz bass with an Audrey pre amp as well.
My main concerns are about potential low-end loss and general upper ends of the volume on louder gigs (9/10 I have PA support so not as much of a concern on volume).
for single cab use I don't have many concerns, anything I'd be rolling single cab is for small jazz trio gigs/coffee shop gigs kinda thing.
Appreciate any stories/advice/experience anyone has to offer! Thanks!
