Double Bass Phil Jones D-400 head with Barefaced One10

Hi,

I would like to buy a new rig. I play jazz double bass (straight ahead, swing, bebop, hardbop..) I need something small and light for smaller venues, like pubs, jazz clubs, restaurants, function gigs and I would like to have a punchy and clear tone.

I've heard from many people that the Barefaced bass cabs are fantastic so I thought to try the One10.

For the amp head it's a difficult question i guess.. I'm not a big fan of Markbass, Aquilar or Acoustic Image so I might give a try to the Phil Jones.

Any other recommendations? And if the Phil Jones works fine which is the better choice, the D-400 or the BP-400?

I love the Barefaced One10. 13 pounds (weight, not cost). Plenty loud. The only idiosyncratic weirdness for me, is that it has sufficient highs, but I need have the cabinet well off the ground to hear them. Quite directional. Great cabinet.

the D-400 or the BP-400?

What is the difference, I can hardly discern it from their description. Perhaps someone can enlighten us.

I've got an answer from the Phil Jones:
"The Difference between the BP400 and the D400 is the Preamp section . Bp has the same preamp as the Double Four and Session 77 combo.
This is more of a Classic practical bass tone. The D400 shares the same preamp as our D1000. Super hifi studio quality tone. They're both grade amps my personal favorite would have been the BP 400 for the upright"
