Phone Skillz0rz!

Obviously, You don't know the first thing about sale then! If ben had said "no, Tuba reeds don't exist" then that caller would never come into the store, but by saying "Yes we do" then the caller comes to the store, giving you an opportunity to sell him SOMETHING.

Like tuba reeds, for instance.

Phone (formerly "phote," as quoted by FF  :p) etiquette has indeed gone by the wayside, and it annoys the poo out of me.

People that don't know how to communicate just flat-out annoy me most of the time. I always make my best effort to communicate with people as effectively as possible both over the phone and in person. Apparently I do a pretty good job for a kid my age--I can get things done better than most of my peers.

An interesting note, Eric. You seemed surprised that some people that call your store don't know where they are, and I can understand how. There are people in my hometown that know the town like the back of their hand, yet they don't know what the names of the two main roads in the town are. Some people get so comfortable being in a particular place that they don't have any *need* for knowing the names of roads. They can tell you exactly how many lights to go before you turn, then they can tell you that you're going to pass the gas station with the green dinosaur out in front of it then make the next left, but they can't tell north from south.

The part that drives me the most crazy is the "Who is this?"
If you're the one who chose to call me you better damn well identfiy yourself first. It's even more annoying when it's said in sort of a demanding way.

brad cook

and that is my number one frustration. That drives me NUTS! It's just amazing to me.

And they wonder how people keep getting lost in the woods.:rolleyes::spit::scowl:

Let me spell it in small words:

IF YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE, YOU DON'T GET LOST!!!!

Please, as a former member of a Explorer search-and-rescue post, I implore you, TRY to learn which way north is where you live. It might just end up being important in your future.

Rock on
Eric

Oh Eric, I wasn't saying that *I* am that way because I'm definitely not. My brain is like a map and a compass all in one---I've never actually been lost in my life. I have a good sense of direction, thankfully.

I work for a Pizza Hut and my job is to answer phones. Yes, people are morons over the phone, but I still prefer that to the over the counter stuff. Mostly the people that annoy me on the phones are the people that are obviously high, and the old ladies, and on rare ocassion, a high old lady. Practically deaf old ladies are definately the worst though, conversation goes something like this:

Me: "Thank you for calling Pizza Hut, this is Mike, will this be for delivery or carry out"
Her: "WHAT!?!"
Me: "Thank, you, for, calling, Pizza, Hut. This is Mike, will this be for delivery or carry out?"
Her: "WE WANT PIZZA!"
Me: "Alright ma'am, but can I please know if this is for delivery or carry out first"

The computer has a step by step process we have to go through, so I can't just go ahead and take the order. Anyway, the conversation just goes on like that, riddled with loud, ear splitting "WHAT!!!??!"'s and me having to repeat myself several times.

I feel your pain.
