MODS: if im in the wrong place, please move this thread for me. sorry for the inconvenience.

i know a TBer used to do them all the time, i had him do a few for me but i cant remember his handle.

i was sitting awake late last night and i dreamed up my dream 5 string. if i get my new job, ill will start doing this.

5 string tele bass body, 3 tone sunburst
5 in line maple/maple neck, black bound and blocked
black pickguard
musicman humbucker in the "sweet spot" (slightly closer to bridge)
cloverleaf tuners, chrome
standard 5 string bridge, chrome

if anyone wants to take a wack at it, be my guest. im good in photoshop, but not as good as i want this to be.

Stflbn sold his, I believe. Not sure where it lives now.
Here's mine, maybe someone can photoshop it into what you want.

Last I knew mine was still here in Nashville. Sold it to a guy named Moe Levone. Not been any contact since the sale though... just a loveless meeting at guitarcenter to swap bass for Ca$$$$H.

For old times sake...

Unfortunately it was a perfect example of having a custom build done based on what I 'thought' I needed versus what I knew I liked and preferred.

If I did it again... it would be built using Rods newer smaller M-series body (I'm tall but delicately framed and feel a full size jazz body plays me vs me playing it). It would have a MM rear pickup in traditional MM sweet spot, and either P pickup, or 2 J's more like a Big Al's setup. My Big Al 5 is proving to be the perfect bass 'for me'.

.

yeah, ive seen both of those.
great examples, and they do help.
still looking for mine though.
damn, i want to pull the trigger on this.

chef, got more pics? did you build the neck and body or is it warmoth or something?

stflnb, more pics!

again, ive seen them, but i dont get sick of seeing them. much like boobies.

What bass is that? I cant make out the name on the headstock.

Nordstrand made my pickup.
I think it was the first one they did.
It was made to Seymour Duncan SCPB3 specs, fairly hot and grindy, and a true single coil.

They can make it about anyway you want, and I believe the one they made for the white bass above was a side by side humbucker. My memory ain't all it used to be though;)

Here is the best I could do, I couldn't find any headstock that I could use so I had to improvise. Let me know if you like more mods.

Am I the thread killer or something :D where is everybody?
Anyway, here is another one using Chef's photo, for some reason I thought his bass was a 4-string.

where did you find a 5 string single coil tele pickup?

EDIT: wasnt Lakland supposed to come out with a 5 string version of the Invalid Link Removed?
where is markus when you need him.

Nordstrand made a split P and a J pickup set for my 1985 Yamaha BB5000. I'm sure they could make you something.

Hey man: don't put an MM pup in my bass!!!!!!!!

;)
