Get back on your meds you fool.
slobake did you mean to quote me or matante?
Just judging from what I've learned about languages in my spare time, Francesco being originally Italian just sounded a little bit fishy to me...what I dug up on the interwebz was about the same thing your sources are saying
My understanding of the way the name Francisco entered Spanish is that they simply needed a way of saying Saint Francis, who was an Italian actually named Francesco. I studied Italian and my understanding was that at the time of Saint Francis' life and in his particular Italian dialect, Francesco meant Frenchman. The modern Italian word is Francese.
Nope didn't mean to quote either of you. If a name has a Latin root does it neccesarily have to Italian as well?
Have you studied any other languages?
I wonder if there is a language thread
I studied French but will not claim any in-depth knowledge on that one. I'm also studying Latin vicariously through my niece.![]()
Someone once told me that "words are energy" and it's true.
That's not what I said
Actually if you read my post my old LBC brother I said the same thing you did`
you should name your son fowtyounce. That's an Olde English name that's pretty interesting![]()
I've been mulling over the name "Maximillian", or "Max" for short.
Not sure yet, though.
There's also "Maxime" which is close, or you know... Maximus!
Or you could just say **** it and name him Megaman. -cue cheesy 80s videogame music-
