Ok, I think I'm finally starting to figure out my Jazz bass, it seems that rolling of the pups just a tad gives it a cleaner thumping sound that sounds good with a pick, and having the pups full on works well with fingers.

i have 2 jazz's with audere preamps. i boost low mid and cut hi mid and boost treb and i get this wonderful sparkly thick tone with a pick. a good jazz pick tone is a wonderful thing
heres me playing my jazz with a pic. im using a crappy practice amp and im using the neck pick-up. i kinda wish i had both on since it sounds too warm and round to me right now... its an improv and me and my band just kinda went along with a groove...
Just this year, I am in the process of making a conversion from a dedicated P Bass player to Jazz basses. This was facilitated mainly due to my interest in slap n pop, which I'm finally starting to get decent at. Much to my surprise, I really dig the sound I'm getting with a plectrum as well.
I may be late, but I know Joseph Troy of Rx Bandits plays a Jazz bass with a pick and his fingers.
So that's an instant green light for me.

for bright punky tone from a pick on jazz through ampeg, i cant go past the album 'The Plot Thickens' by The Jonbenet. you may not like the music but the bass sound is awesome and partialy why i bought my jazz.

Hmm, the bassist of "As I Lay Dying" uses a pick and that I know of all he uses are Fender Jazz's
Or wire a series/parallel switch in, like I did on my Warmoth. Mucho fatness when required, and sounds great with a pick.
Darcy from Smashing Pumpkins mostly used a Jazz too and she was a pick user. I don't think anyone mentioned her.
I'm finding my Jazz bass doesn't like the pick - it LOVES it!! Absolutely loves it. So much so, it doesn't feel so right to play it fingerstyle. And I'm a pick noob!
