Double Bass Pickup fillers

Hello all!

I picked up a Shadow SH SB 2 twin double bass transducer at a local store for one of those "get rid of it" prices. It's the type that goes between the wings and the legs (not between the feet and the top of the actual bass). Unfortunately, that area on my bass isn't tight enough to hold the pickups in place. I've tried filling the space with guitar picks, but that just looks weird and probably does something to the sound.

My question is: can anyone suggest a good medium to help fill the space and create a tighter fit between the pickup and the bridge?

i don´t know the right word in english, but you could try old sax or clarinette reeds (?). just ask your saxplayer.
because of their wedged form they can easily fix the pick up. you can cut them in the size you need so they won´t look out like the guitarpicks
(at least thats what another shadow-user told me)

I've heard the same about sax reeds. I've also heard of people using matchbook covers. I saw a buddy's underwood that he had installed when he bought his bass and luthier used actual wooden shims that looked like they were made out of wood from an old bridge.
