Double Bass Pickup for DB

Hi. I'm new to Talk Bass. I live in South Devon in the UK.
I've been playing fretless bass for years & have a 60W SWR LA12 amp. I now have a double bass and need to amplify it for my first DB gig. I'd welcome any ideas on which pickup to buy. I'm keen to keep the cost down and to be able to fit the pickup myself.

Alternatively, I could go back to where I bought the DB. . . .

only because my amplified sound improved with the correct preamp...I suggest you pay equal attention to pick-up AND pre-amp, read as much as you can & understand!...good luck.
