Pickup orientation question

Hi all,

this is probably a silly question but I'll ask it anyway. :)

I finally got round to installing a set of DiMarzio Area-J pickups in my Squire VMF Jazz. Does it matter which way the pickups are orientated? There was nothing in the instructions about it and there are no marking on the pickups to show correct orientation as well. I ask because the G string does not line up quite right, it's not dead centre over the magnets. The EAD seem ok. Just wondered if this is due incorrect orientation. At the moment the Dimarzio text on the pickups is facing the bridge. By that I mean if you were to look at the pickups from the bridge, the Dimarzio text would appear normal, not upside down.

Thanks everyone. I didn't think it would make any difference, but I guess I just wanted some outside opinions. :)

Actually I did also change the bridge. Ended up putting a BasAssII on as I was told it was a drop in replacement. I think one of the holes was about .5mm out. With regards to the bridge, will I have to adjust the bridge, esp with regards to the saddle positions, length wise? When I compare their positions to those of the standard bridge they are quite different. Height wise the action is a little lower and I'm getting some buzz, but that's easilly fixed.

The only other issue now is that I've just discovered that one of the push/pull pots I've used is broken, when in one position only the top coil of the neck pickup works. Just as well I have a spare. For those interested I used the DiMarzio PushPull Volume Control Dual Sound wiring option.

Regards
