Pickup question.

This may be a very dumb question but I just got a new bass and I noticed that the sound seems pretty awesome with both the J and P pickups turned all the way to the left (I'm assuming off - since the volume is like that)

anyways, with both pickup volumes down all the way, what produces the sound? And how could it possibly be BETTER than with them on? Thanks.

Uhhh.... I think maybe you are confused about the knob function; my JP has v v tone. so if you are turning down the two trailing knobs (closest to the bridge,) the lead knob is the other volume knob but it only controls the neck pickup. Try turning it down also, you should lose all volume.

If you do in fact lose all volume try turning just the middle knob up. You should get sound but it will have less bass, more treble and that should be your bridge pickup. The third knob will affect tone. Don't ask me how 'cause I don't know, just accept it.

You're probably right on the v-v-t knob thing though. Sounds like Justin is soloing the P pick up with the tone rolled off. Hence, better sound.

But… that depends on Justin's bass. Yo! OP, give up some information and all will be crystal clear. Rest assured, the sound is coming from your fingers!

its a brand new squier jag short scale. And yeah I had the left most knob all the way up and both of the others rolled all the way off, best sound out of the bass. Its confusing lol.

Why not? I like hearing myself talk. Seriously I have done this a couple times. I give an answer, post it and, THEN realize it is incomplete.
