Pickup Recommendation for Mexican Jazz 5

I just bought a Mexican Fender Standard Jazz Bass (5 string) and I would like to get a growlly yet articulate sound so you can hear the notes rather than muddied tone. Any recommendations on passive pickups and types of strings?

I have a set of Nordstrand NJ5F pickups coming any day now. I ordered them from these guys http://www.bestbassgear.com/nordstrand-pickups.htm Max is really helpful. I also spoke with the guys at Nordstrand http://www.nordstrandpickups.com/contact/ They're also great, and generous with their time and knowledge. There isn't much available for drop in replacements, and I decided against quarter pounders. I wanted a traditional J sound, making sure I have some growl and clarity. The great thing about about Nordstrand (maybe others too), is that they will do a 9.5 radius on the magnets free of charge, although it takes a couple of weeks to get. This is important for even volume between strings. A Fender 9.5 radius is pretty round for a five string, and I noticed that my G and B strings were louder than the others. Flat pick up, round neck, that's what happens.
